Six Major Development Directions for LED Display Technology
Currently, in order to maintain the competitiveness of enterprise, LED display manufacturers have to pay attention to the development of technology, and focus on small pixel pitch technology and the market. In general, LED display will show the following six development directions in the future:
First, patent protection:
LED patent status from the global perspective, in terms of technology, LED has a high technical bottleneck, but has characteristics of low threshold. The initial investment is not large. The capital threshold is not high. In order to maintain technological competitiveness, reduce the risk of technology spillovers, patents are for the best protection. The patent barrier is the main mean for those manufacturers who first started to avoid the competition. Therefore, patents have become an important issue in the LED industry development process, which can’t be avoided. But the current industry does not pay attention to it. Since the LED display industry started, basically it directly got into the stage of intense competition without the experiencing the development of adjustment. Everyone is busy fighting for the market and expanding the scale, almost taking no effort in the product’s R & D. Also everyone has not taken into account for the knowledge protection of property rights. Some new technologies have not been timely applied for patent protection. With slowly mature industry, standardized and patented approach to protect their intellectual property rights and intangible assets, is the inevitable direction of development for LED screen industry.
Second, standardization:
In the last 10 years, LED large-screen enterprises were springing up due to a huge market demand. Shenzhen ,China, this magical land has appeared thousands of LED display businesses in almost overnight. New enterprises would immediately develop products and start selling. Independent research and development of new products investment is expensive and slow. So everyone is trying to take a shortcut with hasty design or even copying each other, which has been a common problem in this industry. Not only having product appearance dimensions, installation holes between the enterprises, but also having same case for their own internal products. Fixed plate, hole, screw sizes and many others can not fit each other for the same type of product installation, which causes a great inconvenience for parts procurement, preparation, after-sales service, etc. Therefore, LED display product standardization is an inevitable trend.
Third, energy-saving:
LED is a new generation of solid cold light source. Light color is soft, bright, rich and colorful, low loss (light-emitting diode) is very energy-saving. Its characteristics are: high luminous efficiency, long life, easy to control and low energy consumption. It is a product with green environmental protection. But when it is made as LED display, power consumption is not small. LED operating voltage is generally 3.2V, the maximum current is 0.02A, which means that the maximum power consumption is 0.06W. However, LED display is large in screen size. It needs a lot of pixels. Take outdoor P16 display billboard as an example: 3906 points per square meter, a point of RGB lights, then the formula for a square meter of the power consumption is 3906 (dot) × 3 (RGB) × 0.02 (A) × 5 (V) = 1172W (maximum power consumption, calculated by the whole screen). Outdoor screen at least has tens of square meters, or even hundreds of square meters, then the total power consumption is very large. So to reduce the LED display power consumption, and to achieve real energy saving, is definitely the most important direction of development for LED display.
Fourth, rapid and precise installation:
This is mainly for rental LED display. Rental is characterized by frequent disassembly, which is to meet the temporary needs. So the LED display cabinets must be able to quickly and accurately install. Like an outdoor temporary concert, you might need to rent about 50 square meters of the background display, and you only have 2 days to prepare the setup up before the show. For this situation, if the product can’t be fast and accurate in splicing, there is no way to meet the requirements of the scene. Even for fixed installation, there is such a requirement. Otherwise it will increase labor costs, affecting the flatness of the whole screen, thus affecting the display effects. So fast and accurate installation is bound to be the development direction of LED display.
Fifth, light weight design:
At present, most of the products are made by iron cabinet in the industry. The weight per square meter is of 50 kg or more, plus the weight of steel, the whole is very heavy. Even for a few dozen square meters of small and medium-sized project, the total weight is tons in unit. In this way, many buildings are difficult to bear such heavy attachments. It is not acceptable for the building load-bearing balance and the pressure of the foundation. Therefore, light weight is the development direction of LED screen.
Sixth, thin design:
For those commonly used electronic products in our lives, like TV, it becomes thinner and thinner. And many mobile phones are also ultra-thin being as their product highlight. Computer monitors are also in the direction of thin development. Product thinning, the corresponding light weight, and also more convenient transportation, the display is also easy to assemble. LED large-screen electronic products must also keep up with the mainstream of the times. Moreover, "through", "through" refers to the air and light, if the LED large screen is installed on the top of high-rise buildings, then the ventilation is very important. The greater the air permeability, the smaller the wind resistance, wind resistance is stronger, the greater the protection of the product. If the LED display installed in the high-rise building on the side, then the product has be to be transparent, which will not affect the indoor lighting. If not, it is like a dead wall, the room inside is as dark as night during the day. To sum up, thin design is the development direction of LED display screen.
